In the Gallery: 8 x 8 Show

One of the most popular shows at the BAA is now up in the Gallery! One of the reasons that makes this show so much fun, is that there are so many artists who participate!

Be sure to stop in and see all of the imagination captured in an 8 x 8 space, and in some cases, an 8 x 8 x 8! This show will be up through March, but don’t wait too long to see it! As the art sells, there may be new pieces hung up to replace it. Best to come in often!

Don’t Forget!
This Saturday, join us for the Valentine’s 8 x 8 Reception! Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, chocolates, & beverages along with a lot of great artwork!

February 10th – 6pm to 8pm

BAA Annual Meeting

We had a great showing of Brownsville Artists at the home of Lori Garcy for our Annual Meeting. Thank you to everyone who took the time to join us, and offer feedback on what the BAA has been doing and what you would like to see it do.

If you didn’t make it, here are some highlights from the meeting:

Shavonne Schumacher is the BAA Secretary.
Christine Seale is a BAA Member at Large.
Wendy Hoffman is a BAA Member at Large.

We also took some time to appreciate Charlie Stokes, who has been a BAA Member since this whole thing began, and has always been a terrific help to everyone at the Art Center. Be sure to tell him “Thank You” the next time you see him!

The BAA would also love for you to get involved! We can always use volunteers for hosting when the Art Center is open, and there is plenty of help needed in running the BAA within our committees. The following is an overview of each committee, and who to get in contact with if you would like to be more involved!

Exhibit Committee: Cris Kostol (jewelryworks@yahoo.com)
This group helps plan what gets hung up in the Gallery for special shows and events, as well as putting up and taking down the show.

Gallery Committee: Christine Seale (lighthouse751@yahoo.com)
This group organizes the Gallery Artists, and takes care of all the things that make up the Gallery, like fixtures and furniture.

Marketing Committee: Barbara Andersen (bjandersenpdx@aol.com)
This group puts together posters and distributes flyers, writes press releases, promotes on Facebook, and organizes the eNewsletter you are reading now.

Education Committee: Lori Garcy (lorigarcy@centurylink.net)
This group puts together workshops and classes and makes sure that the whole process goes smoothly.

The BAA Board invites you to join our monthly Board Meetings, and any other Committee Meetings that interest you. Come check it out!

Author Sketch & Reception

Did you make it to last month’s Story-Themed Show? The Reception was a great time, with 7 writers and artists talking about their roles and selling a few books in the process! The round-robin table discussions were very successful, and everyone involved enjoyed it!

You can expect more of these kinds of events in the future!
