Decorative Papers

Friday, October 7th, 5:30pm to 8:00pm

Students will be introduced to several traditional techniques for creating decorative papers including both Turkish and Japanese Marbling, Paste Paper and Shibori -style dying of paper with pre-reduced Indigo. There will be time to experience all techniques and create a collection of paper for future use.

Coptic Bookbinding

Saturday, October 8th, 10am to 3pm
$50

Saturday morning students will learn to make a Coptic structure book using some of the papers created the previous day for the covers. Coptic books are well suited for sketchbooks and journals because they open perfectly flat. They have an exposed spine which can be left lain or embellished as another decorative element of the book. Many samples and models of variations on this structure will be available to help students plan their own book.
