Stand By Me Day is an annual event held on July 23. This year the date falls on a Saturday and is the 35th anniversary of the release of this popular movie, which was filmed in and around Brownsville. This event brings movie fans from all over the United States as well as several countries. June and July will feature “everything Brownsville and Stand By Me” related. The Art Center will be filled with artwork of buildings, local landscapes and areas in town where the movie was filmed.
On July 23, Jerry Ross will once again be coordinating the Plein Air Paint Out. Artists can sign up for this event in advance, and they will be stationed all over town with their easels painting scenes of our town. At the end of the day, artwork will be displayed inside and outside of the Art Center and many will be for sale. (open to the public)
