The artist’s exploration of watercolor allows for a delicate interplay of light and shadow, with each brushstroke capturing the essence of the subject. In the medium of watercolor batik, Mishelle combines traditional batik techniques with the fluidity of watercolor paints, creating one-of-a-kind pieces that merge pattern and color in captivating ways.
Though watercolor and batik remain core to Mishelle’s artistic identity, a brief but meaningful period of exploration into oil painting in Chico, California, further expanded the artist’s repertoire. This foray into oils allowed Mishelle to experiment with texture, depth, and contrast, enriching her approach to painting.
With each piece, Mishelle continues to push the boundaries of her creativity, blending various techniques and mediums to create works that are both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
Mishelle and her family has since moved to Oregon where her art is at Brownsville Art Center and Monroe Art Center and soon to be showing through Corvallis Art Guild. Her website is Mishelle-Tourtillott.com
