The inspiration for Avery Andersons work is the miracle of animals and their life. Averys parents were both fine craftspeople, and the owners of several galleries in Florida where she was exposed to art and fine crafts at a young age. Avery began her career in art as a glass artist specializing in fused glass which incorporated animal imagery. In her 30 years devoted to glass, Averys work was featured in numerous galleries, museums, and publication. She was a guest instructor at prestigious glass institutions including Corning Museum of Glass, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Bullseye Glass Company, Urban Glass, Eugene Glass School, Appalachian Center for Crafts, Red Deer College, and numerous private studios.
In addition to being a glass artist, Avery also raised, trained and showed herding dogs. She was a wildlife rehabber at Tufts Large Animal Hospital, as well as a Veterinarian Technician.
Upon retiring to Oregon in 2002, Avery returned to her love of drawing and painting. A self taught artist specializing in animal imagery, her chosen mediums are acrylics, which she uses on fine art gourds, and soft pastels for portraits. Averys life has been devoted to animals and their causes, in addition to her art. She lives on a small rural property outside of Juncton City, OR and shares her life with her two horses (Hope and Valentina) and her three dogs (Feather, Raven, and Sparrow).
